Boca Raton Wedding Photography
In the past decade photojournalism for weddings has become quite popular. There are a at least three types:
With real photojournalism the wedding takes place and the photographer observers and shoots but does not interfere. Whatever happens will be photographed as it takes place entirely without any coaching from the Photographer. Portraits will still be shot but only as they occurred naturally. The typical shots that are taken before the wedding begins are kept to a minimum to avoid staged poses. The entire reception will of course be photographed but with very few posed shots. Group shots are often desired by friends at tables together and these guests will have their requests so that nobody will be told that they can't have the shot they want. When you think about this style we are working more like a news reporter following the action and reporting on the story, we don't create the story. Pictures are are being shot constantly so that the reception is fully covered. Anything taking place that looks unusual, creative or fun will be captured.
With staged photojournalism you'll have a photographer with a plan in mind of what should be shot. Then guests will be asked to act natural in staged situations to get a photojournalistic style of shot. The problem with this is that you aren't giving the bride and groom a record of what took place at their reception you are creating what took place.
We think a better approach would be to combine photojournalism with the more traditional staged shots where people pose the way you'd like them posed. So in our opinion either a totally photojournalistic style or photojournalism combined with traditional classic wedding shots would be much better than fake photojournalism.
This is the most popular style of wedding photography these days. When you meet other photographers and view samples of their work you'll want to see if they capture the look you had in mind. It seems these days that everyone claims to shoot in a photojournalistic style, but they may be posing every shot. You can tell the difference when you see people who look stiff or they are looking at the camera instead of being involved in what they are doing. Sadly the fake photojournalists create albums that all look alike. They follow the same procedure for shooting every one of their weddings. It is possible that you may like their style and there is nothing wrong with that at all. Our point is only to state that if you want a photojournalistic approach to your wedding photography then you should know what to look for. It is also true that some photojournalist can be so focused on action shots that they fail to get any posed shots. If posed shots are also important to you, as they are with most people then you'll want a photographer who shoots various styles equally well.
